What this game IS : 

Wasteland is a 2.5D rougelike game with  Metroidvania elements. The game was inspired by Dead Cell, Genshin Impact, and the Castlevania series. In this game, players become relic hunters, a members of a relic hunting squad. It is your mission to explore the ruins of each city to discover its secrets and find lost relics.  

Gameplay : 

As the player progresses in the game, the player must defeat zombies until the final boss is slain. Through exploration of the procedurally-generated levels, the player gains various items, boosts (attack, health, shield), and uses them to fight zombies. After defeating a zombie, the player gains "Compass", an in-game currency that can be used to unlock another member of the Squad. 

Characters have an important role in this game. They each have unique characteristics. There is only one character to control in the beginning; his element is Fire. You can switch between two characters once you unlock the second character, whose element is Wind, and release combo element attacks (Fire + Wind). 

Controls : 

  • W,A,D,S - Movement
  • Attack - Mouse Left
  • 1, 2 - Switch Attack mode range/melee
  • Space - Jump
  • Interact - F
  • Shield - Left Shift
  • Switch Character - E

It's neither 2.5D, nor roguelike, nor like metroidvania, but it's still a good entry here.

I just wish it wasn't that easy to stun-lock enemies by spamming punches.

We want to make it more roguelike and metroidvania. Unfortunately, time doesn't allow us to complete our ideas. Thank you for playing.  :)
